Tonopolis (Noisen 2010) is the album composed of two integrated parts. The first one contains pure field recordings made by Rafał Kołacki in Toruń. Thus, a vast library was created which later served as the basis for selecting sounds which reverberate the sonicspehere of the city in a convincing way. Among them one can find: sounds of the church bells, sounds that accompany events of great importance, that could be heard in characteristic touristy landmarks and places of everyday visits. Those field recordings were arranged into 5 different “scenes.” The average length of each one is 5 minutes. They were all entitled Impression from the Town. The second part is the next set of 5 compositions which are artistic reinterpretations. On the basis of the field recordings from the first part, five artists created a special project entitled Town Sound Trip. They all recorded a track which basis was the field recordings from the natural environment. It is worth to mention that top artists dealing with such matter in Poland (eg. Marcin Dymiter and HATI members) took part in that project.
