about

Orient Potockiego. Dźwiękopis (Noisen 2011) is a conceptual release with the aim of reinterpreting Jan Potocki's work entitled Voyage dans l’Empire de Maroc by means of sound. The intersemiotic translation of Potocki's memoirs into the language of other artistic media (music, sound art, sound poetry). The album fits into the categories of “deep listening” and the sonic deconstruction of literary works and travel memoirs. Orient Potockiego. Dźwiękopis has an artistic-educational character. It is an attempt of anthropological reconstruction of experiencing the reality of the Orient recorded by 18th century European, thus making this world the matter of artistic expression of a contemporary author living in a multicultural, global world. The project's aim is to focus on the life and works of a renowned author, traveller, ethnographer and archaeologist who translated his erudition and travel experience into literary works; on the descriptive layer of his works he used descriptions of sonic landscapes that have become the matter of inspiration , creative reinterpretations and intersemiotic translation into the language of music and the art of sound.

about

Rafał Kołacki Torun, Poland

Noisen Records is a label specializing in meditative noise, not necessarily of a musical nature. Our releases penetrate the notion of discrete hum, analogue psychedelia, sound poetry, field recordings and free improv in its acoustic, electronic and electroacoustic form. Soothing noise and aggressive silence co-create the aura of focused monitoring for the depth of the sound on our records. ... more
